Blender Jar Materials: Tritan vs Glass vs Polycarbonate
Tritan resists cracking and staining and is the modern default; glass resists scratching but is heavier; polycarbonate has largely been phased out.
The three common blender jar materials trade off differently: Tritan (a BPA-free copolyester) resists cracking and staining better than older plastics and is the modern default; glass resists scratching and odor retention indefinitely but is heavier and can crack from thermal shock or a drop; and polycarbonate was the older plastic standard, prone to scratching, cloudiness, and odor absorption over time, so it has been mostly phased out in favor of Tritan.
